\"mountain,<\/a>Call me crazy (many do) but I like rainy days.\u00a0 There is something comforting about the sound of rain drumming on the roof, and sometimes a rainy day provides me with a much needed excuse to take some time off.\u00a0 I love settling into my comfy chair next to the fire place on a chilly, rainy day and reading a good book.\u00a0 Or taking a mug of hot tea to my desk and writing.<\/p>\n

Rainy Day Benefits<\/h1>\n

A gentle soaking rain rejuvenates and nourishes my garden, the grass, the trees\u2026 it cleans the air and refreshes everything.\u00a0 Rainfall replenishes the water tables so our wells don\u2019t dry up.\u00a0 Only a couple of years ago many of my friends and neighbors experienced the distress of a dry well; having to buy water in jugs and bottles, or lug jugs to someone who still had water for filling.\u00a0 Experiencing that really makes you appreciate the luxury of nudging a faucet and having a ready supply of fresh water.\u00a0 Rain does that for us.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ll admit that sometimes rain will mess up planned activities; but that\u2019s life.\u00a0 It happens.\u00a0 Have a back-up plan. \u00a0Or plan ahead.\u00a0 Just last week I swapped a couple of days: I scheduled Saturday as lumber stacking day and Friday as a work-in-the-shop day.\u00a0 Friday was a nice day, rain was expected on Saturday, so I switched those two; stacking lumber on Friday and working in the shop on Saturday.\u00a0 It worked out great!<\/p>\n

Storms with torrential rains and high winds can be damaging, lightning can be scary, but a gentle rain is \u2013 I think \u2013 soothing, inspiring, refreshing.<\/p>\n

Fridays<\/h1>\n

Fridays have always been one of my favorite days.\u00a0 I suppose this was born in my school years and reinforced while I worked Monday through Friday and had weekends off.\u00a0 Friday is a day of expectation; we\u2019re not out yet, but we\u2019re really close!\u00a0 Then FREEDOM!\u00a0 Saturday and Sunday are ours to do with as we please.\u00a0 The weekend is great, but Friday is the teaser, the part that gets the anticipation worked up.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s odd how this became so ingrained that it carried through even when I worked a job with rotating days off.\u00a0 My \u201cweekends\u201d floated through each week, as did everyone\u2019s: it was a prerequisite of employment there.\u00a0 Tuesday may have been my last work day before my two days off, but I did not feel the excitement of Friday.<\/p>\n

Best of All<\/h1>\n

The best of all things is a rainy weekend, especially a Sunday afternoon.\u00a0 A great time to nap, or read, or watch an old movie with loved ones.\u00a0 Rain can be enjoyed in so many ways.\u00a0 How do you make use of a rainy day?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
