margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 10px;\" src=\"http:\/\/PineyMountainFoster.org\/thoughts\/wp-content\/uploads\/Dog_dressup.jpg\" alt=\"dogs, dress-up,clothng\" width=\"275\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a>I have always considered dressing dogs in people-like clothes to be degrading and silly.\u00a0 I&#8217;ll admit that I&#8217;ve seen (and enjoyed) some photos of dogs dressed up for Halloween that were really cute, and I marveled at the patience these dogs display in sitting still for a photo.\u00a0 But to dress a dog in doll-like clothes and trot it around on a regular basis is&#8230;silly.\u00a0 And I have always doubted that the dogs like it, so it must be something forced on them.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_6381\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-6381\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/PineyMountainFoster.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Cochise-121222a.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-6381 \" style=\"border: 0px none; margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 10px;\" src=\"http:\/\/PineyMountainFoster.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Cochise-121222a-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"dog,clothes,\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-6381\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Cochise, spiffed up for visiting.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Accessories are another matter.\u00a0 Even my own Cochise has shown a fondness for adding a splash of color when we go out to make our rounds at Christmas time.\u00a0 But this does not restrict his movement or get snagged on things the way clothes do.<\/p>\n<p>And protective clothes are an exception.\u00a0 Our friends at <a title=\"Visit the Old Friends web site\" href=\"https:\/\/ofsds.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Old Friends Senior Dog Sanctuary<\/a> often put coats on their wards to help keep their aged bones warm in winter, but these are special made to conform to the shape of dogs bodies and to allow free movement.\u00a0 And the dogs to seem to enjoy the protection from the cold.<\/p>\n<p>It was, therefore, rather surprising to me to see Cochise&#8217;s reaction to being stuffed into a Tee shirt after he came in from the cold, shivering violently:<!--more--><\/p>\n<div align=\"center\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/87044966\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<div align=\"center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/vimeo.com\/87044966\">Chiefs New Clothes<\/a> from <a href=\"https:\/\/vimeo.com\/user24721991\">Doug Bittinger<\/a> on <a href=\"https:\/\/vimeo.com\">Vimeo<\/a>.<\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>If you enjoyed this lil movie, please share it with your friends, Thanks!<\/em><\/p>\n<h2>A Fondness for People Clothes?<\/h2>\n<p>I offered, several times, to remove the shirt for him and he refused.\u00a0 He kept it on all that day, all night, and most of the next day.\u00a0 When I did finally take it off, he actually resisted; stiffening his legs to make it difficult to take them out of the shirt sleeves.\u00a0 But by this time it needed laundering.\u00a0 I&#8217;ll have Marie keep an eye out for a <a title=\"What are Vols and why Orange?\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Tennessee_Volunteers_football\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Vols<\/a> shirt at the Goodwill.<\/p>\n<p>Now that I&#8217;ve had personal experience with a dog that actually LIKES wearing clothes (although I suspect his objective was to keep warm) I have to reassess my opinion of people who dress their Yorkies in a tutu and hair bows.\u00a0 Kids like to play dress-up, maybe dogs do too.\u00a0 What experience do you have with dog clothes?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I have always considered dressing dogs in people-like clothes to be degrading and silly.&nbsp;
