Its a prayer of unity<\/span><\/div>\n
that I lift to You this day, O Lord.<\/span><\/div>\n
I pray for unity in our world<\/span><\/div>\n
where conflicting nations have chosen war<\/span><\/div>\n
as a means of settling their differences.<\/span><\/div>\n
Give those who participate in such strife<\/span><\/div>\n
a reasonable spirit<\/span><\/div>\n
so that hostile guns may once again be silent.<\/span><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
I pray for unity in our country<\/span><\/div>\n
as opposing politicians seek to blame one another<\/span><\/div>\n
for our economic and social ailments.<\/span><\/div>\n
Give those in authority a responsible disposition<\/span><\/div>\n
toward the issues of our time.<\/span><\/div>\n
May they turn their mental energies<\/span><\/div>\n
toward solutions instead of accusations.<\/span><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
I pray for unity within our church,<\/span><\/div>\n
as the lust for power is no respecter of institutions.<\/span><\/div>\n
Give those who have a following<\/span><\/div>\n
a sense of stewardship about their popularity.<\/span><\/div>\n
May they humbly and responsibly<\/span><\/div>\n
represent the cause of Christ.<\/span><\/div>\n
Help us all to be cooperating Christians<\/span><\/div>\n
in a body of believers who understand<\/span><\/div>\n
that love will keep us strong.<\/span><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
I pray for a kind of unity where good people <\/span><\/div>\n
have a right to disagree agreeably.<\/span><\/div>\n
Help us to monitor our own feelings<\/span><\/div>\n
in keeping with the spirit of Jesus.<\/span><\/div>\n
Show us again and again <\/span><\/div>\n
that publicans, fishermen, zealots,<\/span><\/div>\n
and a variety of folk<\/span><\/div>\n
can still function as disciples<\/span><\/div>\n
of our Lord Jesus Christ.<\/span><\/div>\n
