Lego’s History

The story we got was that her family got another family dog after having Lego for almost 4 years. Lego did not get along with the new dog right away, so they got rid of Lego.

• Health: Very good. Shots are all up to date and she looks great!
• Personality: Energetic and playful. She LOVES belly rubs.

Lego is Ilo’s new neighbor. They get along well but tend to get “conversant” a lot. Loudly conversant.

I installed a barrier (a sheet of tin roofing) between their pens to see of that would help. That has quieted Ilo. Lego did prefer to sleep inside (in a crate) last night. But rain was moving in, so maybe she just wanted to be out of that, even though she has a roof over her pen and a dog house under the roof. All the dogs slept indoors last night.

This evening Marie discovered that Lego is a ball player. She will chase, catch the ball on a bounce and bring it back so it can be thrown again. Marie tossed it several times before she called me to see this (and I got my camera booted up). By then Lego was getting tired. But I tried it again the next day and here’s what I got:

This evening, when bed time rolled around I took Lego to her indoors room. No rain is expected tonight but if she prefers to sleep inside, that’s fine. And quieter. Once I got her in her crate and made to leave, she got all yippy and carried on for a while. I’ll try her outside tomorrow night if the fair weather holds. As long as she and Ilo will sleep and not yell at each other all night.

It ‘s a warm sunny day and Lego is feeling playful. When it was her turn to play in the big yard we played ball (above) but first, I discovered another game she likes to play:

Lego spent the night crated in our kitchen last night. She would have preferred to be on a snuggle bed in the bedroom with us, and said so, but that’s not how it works. We were told she is “partially housebroken” and are not sure what that means, so we’re running her through The Program. It took a while, but she eventually gave up her chirping and went to sleep. She slept peacefully all night.

She seems frustrated that she is not afforded all the rights and privileges Blondie and Cochise enjoy, but they have earned those privileges by being consistently and reliably Good Dogs for many years. These two are Good Dog superstars!

Lego seems to have an issue with Blondie Bear. Blondie will come around and gently ask if she wants to be friends (through the fencing) and Lego bares her teeth and snarls at her. She does not react this way with either Cochise or Ilo, so it may be a “girl thing”. I’ll check today to see if she had a spay scar. If not, that may be part of the issue.

How to keep a Labragoof occupied for a while. She could do this all afternoon, I think! Note that she even changes the speed, direction, and height to add variety to her play!
